Spaniard Victor Fernandez has been named as coach of European champions Porto, replacing Luigi Del Neri, daily sports newspaper O Jogo reported on Monday.
Fernandez, 43, was without a club but previously coached Celta Vigo and Real Zaragoza.
Agreement was reached on his appointment late on Sunday after lengthy negotiations between Fernandez, Porto chairman Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa and agent Jorge Mendes, O Jogo said.
Porto could not be reached for comment early on Monday.
Porto announced on Saturday that the club and Del Neri had agreed the previous day to terminate the Italian's contract "for personal reasons".
Del Neri was hired in June to replace Jose Mourinho, who left to become manager of west London club Chelsea after guiding Porto to the Portuguese championship and victory in the UEFA Champions league final last May with a 3-0 win over Monaco.
