Andy Roddick had an easy match against 12th seed Sjeng Schalken of The Netherlands. The 21-year-old American fourth seed won 6-4, 6-2, 6-3.
This is Roddick's first US Open semi-final. He is the only player to reach the semi-finals at three Grand Slams in 2003; the earlier ones being at the Australian Open and Wimbledon.
