Lindsay Davenport, who has inflamed nerves in her toes which need immediate surgery, surrendered tamely to the 20-year-old Belgian.
It was a bad day for the locals; both the American women lost the semi-finals.
This is the first time since 1996 that no American women has featured in the final.
