India's Prakash Amritraj got the better of Zbynek Mlynarik of Austria 6-3, 6-3 to storm into the semi-finals in the ATP Challenger, being played in Dharwad, Karnataka, on Friday.

The Indian needed 82 minutes to get the better of Mlynarik to reach the last four.

Prakash, son of former tennis ace Vijay, then teamed up with Rik De Voest of South Africa to move into the semi-finals of the doubles event.

The duo defeated S Groen and Paul Logtens of the Netherlands 6-3, 6-4.

Meanwhile, Prakash was joined in the last four of the singles by top seed Danai Udomchoke of Thailand, Rik De Voest of South Africa and Yen Tzuoo Wang of Taipei.

In the semi-finals, Prakash will take on Wang, who beat Japan's Takahiro Terachi 6-4, 6-2, while Udomchoke will clash with De Voest, a 6-4, 7-5 winner over Guillermo Gracia-Lopez of Spain.

The Indian duo of Harsh Mankad and Rohan Bopanna crashed out of the doubles, losing to the Ratiwatana brothers, Sanchai and Sanchat of Thailand 4-6, 6-7(5/7).

In the doubles quarter-finals, Amritraj and De Voest needed just 55 minutes to eliminate Groen and Logtens.

The winner of the Tumkur leg of the ATP Challenger, Phillip Kohlschreiber of Germany met his Waterloo at the hands of Udochoke, who won 6-4, 6-4.

Playing brilliant strokes, Udomchoke broke Kohlschreiber in the first set, thanks to two double-faults by his opponent. But Udomchoke squandered the advantage by reciprocating in the sixth game, committing two double-faults and helped the German level at 3-3.

Udomchoke had to wait till the ninth game when Kohlschreiber surrendered the game on his serve. The Thai then held his serve and won the game 6-4.

In the second set, Kohlschreiber fought well till the ninth game, but fumbled at that stage to give his opponent the break. A delighted Udomchoke finished the match, winning the tenth game without conceding a single point.
