The fans get ready

Rugby's Webb Ellis World Cup with ball in Cardiff, Wales. The cup has recently undergone a buff and polish and a 22 carat hard gold plating.

The trophy is named after a student of England's famed Rugby school, William Webb Ellis, who, English authorities claim, picked up the ball and ran with it during a school football game in 1823, thus creating the new game, rugby.

The Webb Ellis Cup was affectionately nicknamed 'Bill' by centre Anthony Herbert when the Wallabies won it in 1991. The tag emerged again in 1999 when 'Bring Back Bill' became the theme of the Wallaby campaign.
