World Swimming Championships
Michael Phelps of the United States set a new world record in the semi-finals of the men's 200 metres individual medley. Phelps won his heat in 1 minute, 57.52 seconds.
"I went out to get a world record and I did, even though I didn't feel good, hadn't slept well," Phelps said. "I'm going to rest now and try to beat the world record once again tomorrow."
