Bobby Aloysius wins gold in Chennai meet

Bobby Aloysius on Saturday won the women's high jump gold in the third and final National Athletic Circuit meet in Chennai.

Bobby, who cleared 1.80m, has now won back-to-back gold medals after winning in Bangalore earlier this week. Sahana Kumari took the silver (1.73m) and M Sangeetha (1.70m) the bronze.

Rakesh Kumar (UP), who won the hammer throw gold with a new national mark (70.16m) at Bangalore, fouled all his four attempts. He had won the event at Nagercoil also.

Nirbhay Singh of Services won the gold with an effort of of 65.55m. International Pramod Tiwari (UP, 63.00m)
finished fourth behind Bir Karan Singh (Punjab, 64.30m) and Gurinderjeet Singh (Punjab, 63.56m).

Most of the top stars have skipped the meet.

The notable absentees include discus champion Neelam J Singh, K M Beenamol (400m), Saraswathi Saha (200m) in the women's section and men's 400m runner P Ramachandran.
