The Year That Was - F1

Japanese Grand Prix

Rubens Barrichello won the Japanese Grand Prix, but the real winner on the day was his team mate Michael Schumacher, who could only finish eighth in the race and in the process secure a record-breaking sixth Formula One World Championship.

The German won the title for the fourth consecutive year and overtook Argentine legend Juan Manuel Fangio's 46-year-old record 1950s haul of five championship wins.

Ferrari completed a double, winning the 2003 Constructors' championship.
