"The championship is pretty close, anything can happen now," said the Finn, after finishing second in the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Ferrari's Michael Schumacher still leads the championship with 72 points, ahead of Williams' Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya on 71 and Raikkonen on 70.
"Hopefully we can have some new parts for the car because it is basically the same as the start of the season, and we need to get something new now," said Raikkonen.
"We will get a new aero package for the next test and hopefully it will work out in the next race."
McLaren have yet to race their new MP4-18 car, sticking instead with a development of last year's model, and team boss Ron Dennis suggested at the weekend that it was "highly unlikely" to appear in competition this season.
The next race is the Italian Grand Prix on September 14, followed by the U.S. race at Indianapolis.
"I think Indianapolis should be pretty good for us," said Raikkonen. "Monza last year was quite difficult but, like I said, we should get some new parts for the car, a new engine also and hopefully we can be stronger there."
