Rider Imtiaz Anees finishes 25th

The Rediff Team

Imtiaz Anees, who became the first Indian to ride in an Olympics three-day Equestrian event, finished 25th on his horse, Spring Invader.

During his ride, Imtiaz accumulated 45.6 time penalty points and 120 ride penalty points, including the 60 points he was docked when, at the first fence, his horse fell and Imtiaz couldn't keep his feet from touching the ground as he fought to recover.

The gold was won by the USA's David Connor, who went through with no penalty points whatsoever.

25 riders contested the final. Earlier, a further 13 riders were either eliminated, or retired.
