Peter Parker

The lead superstar in the Marvel Comics stable, Spider-Man is a 1960s counterculture breakaway from mainstream comic cliche, a flawed and fallible superhero with a wicked sense of humour.

In 1962, the momentous Amazing Fantasy No 15 introduced us to young bookworm Peter Parker, a wallflower bitten by a radioactive spider who inherits enhanced spider powers.

That, combined with his scientific genius and whippersnapper wit, makes Parker's alter-ego Spider-Man comicdom's most appealing, powerful and irresistibly cheesy hero of all time.
