Eligibility

By signing up with Rediff Pay and using the Rediff Pay Services, you confirm the following:

  1. You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement;
  2. You are not restricted or otherwise legally disallowed from using the Rediff Pay App and its Services;
  3. You consent to retrieve your Credit score through Rediff Pay Information Companies using the Rediff Pay App and agree to share this score with Rediff Pay. The score may be utilized by Rediff Pay to assess your eligibility for various Rediff Pay Services. Rediff Pay reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to restrict Users from accessing the Rediff Pay App or Platforms entirely or partially if their Credit score falls below the minimum threshold set by Rediff Pay, which may change over time;
  4. If you joined the Rediff Pay App on or before January 1, 2025, you confirm that you were at least 18 years old at the time of registration; and If you permit others to use your account, including individuals under 21 years of age, you are responsible for ensuring their compliance with these Terms of Use. You will be held accountable for any actions they take through your account. You also acknowledge that Rediff Pay is not obligated to verify if you meet the stated eligibility criteria.

Please review these terms and conditions carefully before registering for, accessing, or using the services provided through the Rediff Pay website, Rediff Pay App, or other platforms operated by Rediff Pay Group Entities. These terms form a legal agreement ("Terms of Use") between you and Rediff.com India Limited ("Rediff Pay"), having registered office at Level 9 and 10, Seasons Riddhi Siddhi, Jn of Tilak Road and 1st Gaothan Lane, Santacruz (West), Mumbai- 400054, Maharashtra, India. By using the Rediff Pay Services, you confirm that you have read and understood these Terms of Use. If you do not accept or agree to these terms, you must discontinue the Services and uninstall the Rediff Pay App immediately.

By accessing and utilizing Rediff Pay Services, you agree to the following terms:
  1. Unless explicitly authorized in writing by Rediff Pay, you are allowed to maintain only one account.
  2. Your use of the Rediff Pay App and related platforms must adhere to all applicable laws and regulations.
  3. The Rediff Pay App and platforms are intended solely for your personal use.
  4. Any information you provide during registration must be accurate, truthful, and complete. You also agree to keep your account details current and up to date.
  5. You are accountable for all activities performed through your account.
  6. You are responsible for safeguarding the confidentiality of your account credentials and for any actions taken using your account. If your passcode or account security is compromised, you must inform Rediff Pay immediately.
  7. You assume full responsibility for all transactions carried out through your account. This includes, but is not limited to, situations where you knowingly or negligently:
    • Allow another person to access the Rediff Pay App.
    • Permit others to perform transactions using your account.
    • Conduct transactions on behalf of someone else, including sharing one-time passwords or other methods.
  8. You agree not to engage in actions such as reverse engineering, decompiling, disassembling, or tampering with the content of the Rediff Pay App. Furthermore, you must not remove or alter any intellectual property rights associated with the Rediff Pay App, including copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, designs, patents, or other proprietary notices.
  9. You must not use or access the Rediff Pay App in ways that:
    • Disrupt or harm the functioning or content of the Rediff Pay App.
    • Violate any applicable laws or regulations.
    • Negatively impact Rediff Pay, its users, or its business partners.
    • Interfere with other users' experience or enjoyment of the Rediff Pay App.
    • Commit fraud against Rediff Pay, its users, or its business partners.
  10. You are prohibited from transmitting, posting, or distributing software or files containing viruses, harmful components, or malicious content. Any actions that damage the Rediff Pay App, disrupt associated networks, or interfere with others' use of the App are strictly forbidden.
  11. You shall not delete, modify, or alter any content within the Rediff Pay App.
  12. By using the Rediff Pay App, you consent to the automatic installation of updates (such as patches, bug fixes, enhancements, or new versions) to ensure the smooth operation of Rediff Pay services. Your continued use of the App after such updates implies your acceptance of them.
  13. You acknowledge that not all products, services, or rewards available on the Rediff Pay App may be accessible in every region. Your eligibility for these offerings may vary, and Rediff Pay reserves the sole right to determine availability and eligibility for any product, service, or reward offered on its platforms.
  14. If your device is lost or stolen, you agree to promptly notify Rediff Pay to block your account and reset your passcode to prevent unauthorized access.
  15. If you purchase insurance policies through the Rediff Pay App, you agree that the nominee for these policies will default to your legal heirs unless otherwise specified. To update nominee details, you must contact the respective insurance provider directly. Rediff Pay and its affiliates are not liable for changes to nominee information.
  16. For insurance policies obtained through the Rediff Pay App, you consent to insurance partners accessing your medical records from healthcare providers, hospitals, or previous employers to assess your physical or mental health. You also authorize these partners to share your medical information with regulatory bodies or for underwriting and claims processing. Insurance partners may contact you regarding your policy, services, claims, or other related matters.

3. Violation of Terms of Use or Suspicious Activity

If we determine that you have breached these Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy, the Supplemental Terms, or any agreements accepted through the Rediff Pay App, we reserve the right to:

If suspicious or unusual activity is identified in your account, we may temporarily or permanently restrict your access to Rediff Pay Services and reverse associated transactions. Rediff Pay also reserves the right to take similar action in cases where users:

  1. Exploit features, offers, or rewards dishonestly—for example, placing orders with no intent to receive them or canceling most or all of the orders deliberately.
  2. Use features in ways that deviate from their intended purpose.
  3. Artificially manipulate transaction volumes, such as splitting payments into numerous smaller transactions.
  4. Attempt to bypass fair usage limitations.
  5. Gain improper, unethical, or unfair advantages over other users or partners.
  6. Intentionally cause harm or financial loss to Commercial Partners or Rediff Pay.

Rediff Pay may request additional documents, such as your Permanent Account Number (PAN), to verify your account or activities. Failure to provide the requested information may result in account suspension, transaction reversals, or restrictions on App usage.

If your account is suspended or deleted, you can reach out to the Rediff Pay support team for assistance or to address any related concerns.

4. Account Termination or Deletion

You can end your agreement with Rediff Pay at any time by deactivating your account and discontinuing the use of its services. The Rediff Pay App allows you to request the removal of a specific card linked to your account or to deactivate or delete your account entirely through the support section.

Upon account termination or deletion, whether initiated by you or Rediff Pay:

Even after your account is deleted or terminated, Rediff Pay will retain a record of your transactions to comply with regulatory and archival requirements.

Your personal information is collected, stored, used, and shared in accordance with Rediff Pay's Privacy Policy. By accepting these Terms of Use, you also agree to the Privacy Policy, which may be updated from time to time.

6. Fees

You are responsible for any fees associated with specific transactions or services on the Rediff Pay App. These fees will be clearly displayed before you complete any transaction. By selecting options like “Proceed,” “Submit,” or “Continue” on the Rediff Pay App, you confirm your acceptance of the fees as outlined on the relevant page.

7. General UPI Refund Policy

Failed Transactions:

If a UPI transaction fails but the amount is debited, it is usually auto-refunded within 5-7 working days. If the amount is not credited back, you can raise a complaint via the UPI app or your bank. Wrong Transaction (Sent to Wrong UPI ID/Number):

UPI transactions are instant and irreversible unless the recipient voluntarily refunds the amount. You can try contacting the receiver and request a refund.

If the receiver refuses, you may lodge a complaint with your bank, but recovery is not guaranteed. Fraudulent Transactions (Unauthorized Debit):

Report the fraud immediately to your bank and the UPI app's customer support.

File a complaint through NPCI's Dispute Resolution Mechanism or your bank's grievance portal or the authorities. Banks usually investigate such cases, but refunds depend on the circumstances.

Merchant Payments (Failed or Incorrect Deduction):

If a UPI payment to a merchant fails but money is debited, the refund usually happens within 3-5 working days.

If the refund doesn't process, raise a dispute in the UPI app or contact the merchant's customer support.

How to Request a Refund?

Use the "Help" or "Raise Dispute" option in the UPI app.

Contact your bank's customer service and provide transaction details.

If unresolved, escalate to the Banking Ombudsman or NPCI (https://www.npci.org.in).

The Rediff Pay Services, along with all content, software, materials, and information accessible through the Rediff Pay Platform, are provided on an "as is" basis. Rediff Pay, its affiliates, and partners do not make any guarantees or warranties regarding the functionality, content, or reliability of its services.

Specifically, Rediff Pay does not warrant that:

Additionally, you acknowledge that payment transactions facilitated via the Rediff Pay App are solely between the sender (User initiating the payment) and the recipient (User receiving the payment). Rediff Pay does not guarantee the quality, performance, or fulfillment of goods, services, or commitments by the recipient and is not responsible for any non-compliance with these Terms by other users or partners.

You accept all risks associated with transactions and are advised to exercise due diligence before proceeding with payments through the Rediff Pay App.

9. Limitation of Liability

Rediff Pay, its affiliates, officers, shareholders, subsidiaries, directors, employees, agents, partners, licensors, contractors, and other associated parties shall not be liable to you or any third party for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. This includes, but is not limited to, losses related to data, profits, goodwill, or other intangible assets, even if Rediff Pay was advised of the possibility of such damages.

This limitation applies under all legal theories, including breach of contract, warranty, negligence, or tort, arising from your use of the Rediff Pay App, Platforms, or Services.

The maximum aggregate liability of Rediff Pay and its affiliated entities for any damages, losses, or claims resulting from your use of the Rediff Pay App, Platforms, or these Terms of Use shall not exceed INR 10,000 (Indian Rupees ten thousand only).

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Rediff Pay, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, partners, contractors, and other associated third parties ("Indemnified Parties") against any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  1. Your use of or access to the Rediff Pay App and Platforms.
  2. Your violation of these Terms of Use.
  3. Infringement of third-party rights, including intellectual property or privacy rights.
  4. Engagement in prohibited activities as described in these Terms.
  5. Non-compliance with applicable laws, including tax or cybersecurity regulations.
  6. Any claims that your use of the Rediff Pay App caused harm to a third party.

11. Disputes and Arbitration

By using the Rediff Pay App, Platforms, and Services, you acknowledge that Rediff Pay is not a party to disputes between you and Commercial Partners, other users, or recipients of transferred funds. Although Rediff Pay is not obligated to mediate, it may assist in facilitating communication between disputing parties at its discretion.

All disputes related to Rediff Pay Services or these Terms of Use are governed by Indian law, except where Rediff Pay's decisions are final under these terms.

12. Confidentiality:

All arbitration-related materials—documents, correspondence, orders, and awards—will remain confidential and not disclosed to third parties without prior written consent, except when required for arbitration proceedings. In such cases, third parties must agree to confidentiality in writing.

13. Use and Protection of Intellectual Property Rights

The Rediff Pay App, Website, logos, and Services are protected under intellectual property laws, including copyrights, trademarks, patents, and trade secrets. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, upload, post, transmit, or distribute any content or materials from the Rediff Pay App without explicit written permission from Rediff Pay.

You are granted a limited license to use the Rediff Pay App and Platforms, provided you comply with these Terms of Use.

Ownership:

Rediff Pay, its affiliates, and its licensors exclusively own the software, source code, and all intellectual property rights associated with the Rediff Pay App, Platforms, and their content.

Content License:

By uploading, submitting, or transmitting content through the Rediff Pay App, you grant Rediff Pay and its affiliates a worldwide, perpetual license to:

T&C of the TPAPs under UPI

What is NPCI?

NPCI is an authorized payment system operator by RBI. NPCI owns and operates UPI payment system.

What is PSP bank?

PSP is the banking company authorized to act as a Payment Service Provider (PSP) under the UPI framework. PSP engages the TPAP to provide UPI services to the end-user customers.

What is TPAPs?

Third Party Application Provider (TPAP) is an entity that provides the UPI compliant app(s) to the end-user customers to facilitate UPI based payment transactions.

What is Customer’s Bank?

The Bank where the end-user customer maintains his/her account that has been linked for the purpose of debiting/crediting the payment transactions made through UPI.

Who is End User Customer?

The end-user customer is the individual who uses UPI payment facility to send and receive payments.

We hereby confirm that:

  1. We Rediff.com India Limited are a TPAP authorized by NPCI to facilitate payments through PSP Bank(s) namely Axis Bank Limited. We are a service provider and we participate in UPI through the PSP Bank.
  2. We are bound by the tripartite agreement entered with the sponsor PSP Bank, Axis Bank Limited (name of the PSP bank(s) to be added) and NPCI. We are responsible for facilitating grievances / complaints resolution of the customers on-boarded on our UPI application.
  3. We shall be the first point of contact for all UPI related grievances/complaints for customers on-boarded by us. In case the complaint/grievance remains unresolved, the next level for escalation will be the PSP Bank, followed by the bank (where you maintain the account) and NPCI in the same order. After exercising these options you can approach the Banking Ombudsman and / or the Ombudsman for Digital Complaints, as the case may be.

Roles & Responsibilities of NPCI

  1. NPCI owns and operates the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) platform
  2. NPCI prescribes rules, regulations, guidelines, and the respective roles, responsibilities and liabilities of the participants, with respect to UPI. This also includes transaction processing and settlement, dispute management and clearing cut-offs for settlement
  3. NPCI approves the participation of Issuer Banks, PSP Banks, Third Party Application Providers (TPAP) and Prepaid Payment Instrument issuers (PPIs) in UPI
  4. NPCI provides a safe, secure and efficient UPI system and network
  5. NPCI provides online transaction routing, processing and settlement services to members participating in UPI
  6. NPCI can, either directly or through a third party, conduct audit on UPI participants and call for data, information and records, in relation to their participation in UPI
  7. NPCI provides the banks participating in UPI access to system where they can download reports, raise chargebacks, update the status of UPI transactions etc.

Roles & responsibilities of PSP Bank

  1. PSP Bank is a member of UPI and connects to the UPI platform for availing UPI payment facility and providing the same to the TPAP which in turn enables the end-user customers / merchants to make and accept UPI payments
  2. PSP Bank, either through its own app or TPAP’s app, on-boards and registers the end-user customers on UPI and links their bank accounts to their respective UPI ID.
  3. PSP Bank is responsible for authentication of the end-user customer at the time of registration of such customer, either through its own app or TPAP’s app
  4. PSP Bank engages and on-boards the TPAPs to make the TPAP’s UPI app available to the end-user customers
  5. PSP Bank has to ensure that TPAP and its systems are adequately secure to function on UPI platform
  6. PSP Bank is responsible to ensure that UPI app and systems of TPAP are audited to safeguard security and integrity of the data and information of the end-user customer including UPI transaction data as well as UPI app security
  7. PSP Bank has to store all the payments data including UPI Transaction Data collected for the purpose of facilitating UPI transactions, only in India
  8. PSP Bank is responsible to give all UPI customers an option to choose any bank account from the list of Banks available on UPI platform for linking with the customer’s UPI ID.
  9. PSP Bank is responsible to put in place a grievance redressal mechanism for resolving complaints and disputes raised by the end-user customer

Roles & responsibilities of TPAP

  1. TPAP is a service provider and participates in UPI through PSP Bank
  2. TPAP is responsible to comply with all the requirements prescribed by PSP Bank and NPCI in relation to TPAP’s participation in UPI
  3. TPAP is responsible to ensure that its systems are adequately secure to function on the UPI platform
  4. TPAP is responsible to comply with all applicable laws, rules, regulations and guidelines etc. prescribed by any statutory or regulatory authority in relation to UPI and TPAP’s participation on the UPI platform including all circulars and guidelines issued by NPCI in this regard
  5. TPAP has to store all the payments data including UPI Transaction Data collected by TPAP for the purpose of facilitating UPI transactions, only in India
  6. TPAP is responsible to facilitate RBI, NPCI and other agencies nominated by RBI/ NPCI, to access the data, information, systems of TPAP related to UPI and carry out audits of TPAP, as and when required by RBI and NPCI
  7. TPAP shall facilitate the end-user customer with an option to raise grievance through the TPAP’s grievance redressal facility made available through TPAP’s UPI app or website and such other channels as may be deemed appropriate by the TPAP like email, messaging platform, IVR etc.

Dispute Redressal Mechanism

  1. Every end-user customer can raise a complaint with respect to a UPI transaction, on the PSP app / TPAP app.
  2. End-user customer can select the relevant UPI transaction and raise a complaint in relation thereto
  3. A complaint shall be first raised with the relevant TPAP in respect to all UPI related grievances / complaints of the end-user customers on-boarded by the PSP Bank / TPAP (if the UPI transaction is made through TPAP app). In case the complaint / grievance remains unresolved, the next level for escalation will be the PSP Bank, followed by the bank (where the end-user customer maintains its account) and NPCI, in the same order. After exercising these options, the end-user customer can approach the Banking Ombudsman and / or the Ombudsman for Digital Complaints, as the case may be.
  4. The complaint can be raised for both the types of transactions i.e. fund transfer and merchant transactions
  5. The end-user customer shall be kept communicated by the PSP / TPAP by means of updating the status of such end-user customer’s complaint on the relevant app itself
Rediff Pay - FAQs
  1. What can I pay for using Rediff Pay? You can pay credit card bills, electricity bills, gas bills, water bills, mobile recharges, broadband, DTH, FASTag top-ups, and more, all from one app.
  2. Does the app support UPI? Yes. Rediff has approval to offer UPI services with a leading banking partner. UPI onboarding and availability may be introduced in phases.
  3. Are UPI payments free? Yes. Zero charges for consumer UPI payments as per current Indian regulations.
  4. How secure are payments on Rediff Pay? Payments run on India's regulated banking and UPI rails, protected with encryption, OTP verification, and device-level security.
  5. Do I need KYC to use Rediff Pay? Basic bill payments/recharges may require minimal details.
    UPI setup follows NPCI, bank KYC or Rediff Pay guidelines.
  6. Which banks are supported for UPI? UPI works with most major Indian banks. Bank linking options appear during the UPI setup.
  7. Can I save billers for quick payments? Yes, frequently used billers can be saved for faster repeat payments (where supported by the biller).
  8. Where can I see my past transactions or receipts? Go to ProfileTransaction History to track transactions and download/share receipts.
  9. Does Rediff Pay offer rewards? Selected categories may earn Rediffcoins, a rewards program designed for Rediff users.
  10. How do Rediffcoins work? Earn coins on eligible payments.
    Redeem them as per program terms displayed inside the app.
  11. Is FASTag recharge available? Yes, FASTag top-up is supported through Rediff Pay.
  12. Are prepaid and postpaid mobile services supported? Yes, mobile recharge and bill payment services for all the major telecom operators are available.
  13. What happens if a bill payment or recharge fails? Refunds are automatically processed to your bank/wallet/card based on the payment method or biller rules or successful authentication.
  14. How do I reset or change my UPI PIN? Once UPI is active, go to Manage Bank AccountsChange/Reset UPI PIN.
  15. Can I link more than one bank account to UPI? Yes, UPI allows multiple bank accounts. You can set a default account for payments.
  16. Can I pay credit card bills via Rediff Pay? Yes, most major credit card billers are supported.
  17. Are utilities like electricity, water, LPG, and piped gas supported? Yes, Rediff Pay covers a broad list of utilities across India.
  18. Can I pay for DTH or broadband services? Yes, support is available for popular operators.
  19. Will I get instant confirmation after payment? Most services update instantly. Some billers may take a short time to reflect status.
  20. Is there a transaction limit? Limits depend on bank, biller, and NPCI rules. The app displays applicable limits when you initiate payment.
  21. Can I use third-party reward points to pay? Rediff Pay currently supports bank/card payments and UPI; external rewards integration may vary.
  22. How can I contact support for a payment issue? Open the specific order in Transaction History and tap Support. Include your transaction ID for faster help.
  23. Is auto-pay available for recurring bills? Auto-pay availability depends on the biller and payment method.

  24. Does Rediff store my card details? Saved cards are tokenised as per RBI regulations. Full card details are not stored on Rediff servers.
  25. Can I use the app on multiple devices? Yes, you can sign in on multiple devices using your Rediff ID.
    For security, sign out from shared/public devices after use.
  26. What permissions does the app need?
    The app requests:
    • Notifications (for new mails & alerts)
    • Storage/Media access (for attachments)
    • Contacts (optional, for address book sync)
    • SMS read permission (optional, for OTP autofill in payments)
