New Yorkers celebrated Diwali a week and more ahead of the celebrations in the motherland with a grand event in Times Square, the city's most famous location, on Sunday, October 16.
Hundreds of desis gathered at Times Square surrounded by colourful neon billboards for Broadway shows and in the midst of hordes of tourists from all over the world navigating their way through the throng of humanity, a hallmark of Times Square at most times of the day.
