NRIs describe the impact coronavirus is having on their lives.

Anaya, Hong Kong

I am currently in Year 12, and have been participating in online school since mid-January 2020.

At first, when I heard about the virus -- early January 2020 -- I didn't think much of it -- I certainly didn't expect it to turn into a global pandemic.

Things started to get a bit more real when my classes were moved online -- for the first time in my school experience -- for two weeks. Then four weeks. Then two months.

Classes are suspended till April 20th at the moment.

But my teachers and peers have expressed their uncertainty at when school will actually resume.

Since classes were moved online, my family has taken precautions, so I haven't left the house, unless it's for something important.

Friends and relatives in different places have also been affected in a major way.

Despite the constant news coverage, it's hard to visualise how quickly this virus has taken over the world.
