This Independence Day is incomplete, says Ramdev

Yoga Guru Ramdev on Monday described India's Independence Day as "incomplete".

"Only one per cent of people of this country, who are in charge of the constitutional system, have made 99 per cent population their slaves. Today's Independence is incomplete," Ramdev told reporters.

He called for a change in the policies drafted by British rulers and demanded the scrapping of "draconian laws" enacted during their regime.

"Fast track courts should complete the trial of cases related to corruption in three to six months and grant death penalty or life imprisonment to people if they are found guilty," he said.

Extending his support to Anna Hazare in his fight against corruption, Ramdev refused to say anything when asked whether he would travel to Delhi to support the Gandhian activist.

He alleged that the Centre was presenting every democratic movement against corruption as "undemocratic".
