Hectic lobbying to select the next chief minister of Karnataka have commenced in Bengaluru.
A crucial meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party legislature party, chaired by B S Yeddyurappa, will be held at 4:30 am on Friday at Hotel Ashok.
Yeddyurappa, who has been indcited in the illegal mining scam report of Lokayukta Santosh Hegde, had on Thursday stated that he would step down on July 31.
The Race Course residence of the chief minister is a hub activity.
BJP leaders have started coming in to discuss the future course of action. The BJP is, however, not letting out the name of Yeddyurappa's successor.

Senior party leaders Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitley will arrive in Bengaluru at around 11 am to oversee the selection of the next chief minister.
Yeddyurappa, who is said to be working out his exit strategy, has made it clear that he will have a major say in the selection of the next leader. He also wants an important post in the affairs of the party.
State BJP president K S Eshwarappa, when contacted, rubbished reports that Yeddyurappa is trying to split the party.
While Eshwarappa refused to comment on whether he would be made the next chief minister, Sadanand Gowda appeared most hopeful. He is locked in a meeting with senior RSS leaders and discussing the issue. Gowda says that he is ready to take up the responsibility if the high command wants him to.
Jagadish Shettar too is lobbying hard and is already meeting top party leaders. Backed by Ananth Kumar, Shettar is hopeful that he would be given the responsibility considering his seniority in the party.
