Bakri Id was celebrated across the Muslim world on Wednesday with devotees offering special prayers in eidgahs and mosques and sacrificing animals.

The day marks the end of the Haj pilgrimage and serves as a day to remember the Islamic Prophet Ibrahim, and his willingness to sacrifice of his son, Ismail (Ishmael) as an act of submission to Allah, before Allah intervened and gave Ibrahim a lamb to slaughter in the place of his son. It is customary for Muslim families to honour Allah by sacrificing a sheep, cow or goat and sharing the meat amongst family members

Let's look at some glimses of the festival from India and around the world
