Jamaat-ud-Dawah chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, blamed for the Mumbai terror attacks, has demanded that the Pakistan government should announce a date for parting ways with the United States and abandoning its war on terrorism.
Saeed warned that if the government reopened the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation supply routes which were closed in November last year, the Defa-e-Pakistan Council -- a conglomeration of religious and extremist groups -- would "gherao" the Parliament in Islamabad.

Addressing a rally organised by the Defa-e-Pakistan Council at Multan on Sunday, Saeed said, "We are united against the US, India and Israel for their designs against Pakistan."
He claimed the government's move to give Most Favoured Nation-status to India would lead to the economic destruction of Pakistan.
Saeed described as "un-Islamic and anti-state" a resolution in favour of music and cultural activities that was recently passed by lawmakers in Punjab province.

About 40 religious and extremist groups have come together under the banner of the Defa-e-Pakistan Council, which has organised a string of rallies against the US, India and Israel across the country.
Though the administration of Multan district had refused to give permission for the rally organised by the Defa-e-Pakistan Council, the organizers went ahead with the gathering at the Sports Ground and the authorities did not interfere.
