'What wave? This is a NaMo tsunami'

This is how Bharatiya Janata Party worker Savita Mehta, vice president of the BJP Delhi Mahila Morcha described the outcome of the 2014 election.

Hastily making her way towards the BJP headquarters, Mehta gushed: “The BJP on its own will cross 300 to 350 seats,” Mehta said as BJP and its allies were comfortably crossing the halfway 272 mark.

“Come and talk to me later this evening if you doubt what I say,” Mehta said when this correspondent asked her if she was going over the board in her assessment.

Echoing what India’s Prime Minister-in-waiting Narendra Modi has been repeating ad nauseam in his elections speeches Mehta said, “Yeh maa-bete ki sarkaar toh gayi (We have put an end to the misrule of Congress’ mother-son duo of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi).”

Meanwhile, celebrations continue unabated at the party headquarters as more and more supporters keep streaming in to join the big party being underway at 11, Ashoka Road.

“All the roads in India’s capital are leading towards our party headquarters,” Mehta said before she made her way into the premises to soak in the festive atmosphere.

Mehta said that BJP general secretary Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has been holding fort at the party headquarters even as senior political leaders are on their way there.

Meanwhile, the regulars have started making their appearance here. A group of priests have been busy performing a victory yagna for Modi. One of the persons leading the ritual said that they were invoking Lord Hanuman so that Modi rules India for the next 100 years.

The victorious BJP seems to have been on an overdrive since this morning. People dressed in various tribal cultures depicting tigers and peacocks have been brought in to perform here. Two elephants too have been kept on standby just in case Modi makes an appearance on Delhi.

“Modi sahab might come to Delhi this evening. We have been asked to keep these elephants here just in case he comes. He might climb atop one of these elephants. That is what we have been told and that is why these elephants are here,” said Raju Kama the person who was in charge of these tuskers.
