Incredible win for BJP, humiliation for Congress: Opinion poll

January 25, 2014 20:03 IST

An opinion poll conducted by ABP News-Nielsen should give the Bharatiya Janata Party lots of reasons to cheer.

According to the poll, conducted among 64,006 respondents, the saffron party will win a whopping 210 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha in the forthcoming Parliamentary elections.

The Congress will get an embarrassingly low tally of 81 seats while the Aam Aadmi Party, despite all the hype surrounding it, will win only 11 seats, said the poll.

The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance will form the next government at the Centre with 226 seats, it said.

The UPA government’s inability to control prices was the main reason for respondents to opt for the NDA, according to the ABP News-Nielsen Opinion Poll.

Many of them felt that a BJP-led dispensation would be able to bring down inflation and also tackle the alarmingly high levels of corruption in the government.

The opinion poll also revealed that only 10 per cent of the respondents welcomed the UPA’s much hyped schemes like the Right To Education and the Right To Food, while 33 per cent felt that these were merely political gimmicks.
