Instituting an inquiry commission to probe the corruption in Mayawati government and providing rice and wheat at Rs 3 and 5 per kg to the poor are among Bharatiya Janata Party's poll promises in its vision document for Uttar Pradesh.
The vision document, which will be released by BJP president Nitin Gadkari on January 16 in Lucknow, also states that the various successful schemes in states where the party is in power will also be implemented in UP.
"On getting the mandate in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP government will end Mayawati's empire of corruption worth thousands of crores spread from Noida, Ghaziabad to Ghazipur and from Balrampur to Banda. For this, within 24 hours of assuming power, an inquiry commission will be formed," the document states.
The vision document makes several populist promises to lure the voters to the party which is hopeful of increasing its tally from 51 seats it won in the 2007 assembly polls.

'Poor to get rice and wheat and Rs 3 and Rs 2 per kg, respectively'

"All farmers and the poor will be given 35 kg of rations per month with rice at Rs 3 and wheat at Rs 2 per kg through the Public Distribution System," the BJP said.
It also reiterates the party opposition to any reservation on religious lines and insists that it will keep intact the quota of OBC and Most Backward Classes.
"Schemes like Ladli Lakshmi of Madhya Pradesh for welfare of girl-child, the 'world famous' PDS of Chhattisgarh, Lokayukta law of Uttarakhand, Jyoti Gram of Gujarat for providing 24-hour power supply will be implemented in UP," the vision document states.
These schemes in BJP ruled states have won accolades for effective implementation and for reaching out to the needy people. The party has often harped on the various awards given to these states for such schemes.
"BJP will also create opportunities for one crore jobs and work towards employment generation in sectors like tourism, handlooms, agri industries, information technology and cooperatives," the party said.

The vision document also emphasises that Israel's model of "more crop per drop" system of irrigation where technology for increased production of grains through less use of water will be harnessed in Bundelkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
"Bundelkhand has more heritage tourism sites than Rajasthan and these will be given special attention for tourism purpose," the BJP said.
For eastern UP, the backward region of the state that borders Bihar and has several similarities with that state, the Bihar model of development will be used.
The party has also promised to give priority to ending organised crime, creating a conducive environment for investment, spreading the network of roads and encouraging agri-based industries.
"The slogan for good governance is mostly given keeping the middle class in mind but the aim for BJP is that its benefits should go to the deprived sections," the document reads.
Cooperative movement, which is dear to Gadkari, also finds a place in the vision document. "There will be no place for government interference and corruption in cooperatives. Encouragement will be provided for cooperatives in sugar industry, handloom and fisheries," it said.
