Rajesh Talwar, father of murdered teenager Aarushi, was on Tuesday attacked by an unidentified youth outside a Ghaziabad court, leaving him profusely bleeding from the head.

54-year-old Talwar, who had gone to the court to file a petition demanding a fresh probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the Aarushi-Hemraj murder case, was rushed to a hospital by his lawyers, eyewitnesses said.

They said he was attacked by the youth in his early twenties when Talwar was standing next to a photocopying shop after he came out of the court after filing his plea.

They said Talwar was suspected to have been attacked by a cleaver, leaving him profusely bleeding from the left side of his head.

In the midst of the commotion, the youth was apprehended by a bystander and taken into custody by police personnel, who took him to a lock-up in the court premises.

Following the incident, the court adjourned the hearing in the case till February eight, lawyers said.

Soon after the incident, some bystanders in the court premises slapped and punched the youth.

Lawyers also raised slogans against the attack.

Earlier, Talwar had moved an 86-page protest petition against CBI's closure report in the Aarushi-Hemraj case and demanded a fresh probe.

14-year-old Aarushi was found murdered at her residence in 2008. The body of their domestic help Hemraj was found in the terrace of the house later.
