Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was on Saturday stopped from entering Bisara village in Dadri, where a 50-year-old man was lynched to death by a mob earlier this week over rumours that his family stored and consumed beef.

Kejriwal drove down to the village in Uttar Pradesh and wanted to meet the family of Mohammad Akhlaq who were subject to the mob attack.

But upon entering, his cavalcade was stopped by authorities citing protests and tension in the village.

The chief minister, along with AAP leader Sanjay Singh and Ashutosh, were instead escorted to a guest house far away from the village.

Kejriwal vented his frustration on Twitter and asked as to why he was singled out from entering the village when leaders like Union Minister Mahesh Sharma and MIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi had been allowed to do so.

"We r stopped by police n admn. Mahesh Sharma n Owaisi not stopped yest. Then y me? I am most peace loving. Want 2 jst meet Ikhlak's family. I m being accused of doing politics. Yes, i am doing politics. But i m doing politics of unity and love. They r doing politics of hatred (sic),"wrote Kejriwal on the micro-blogging platform.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh, Kumar Vishwas and Ashutosh were also present in Kejriwal's delegation.

"Ask the administration if they have stopped us," Sanjay Singh told the media on being stopped outside Bishada village.

"The administration is not telling us why they have stopped us, they are escorting us to a guest house," Ashutosh said.

He said: "We think the prime minister should come here, and spread a message so that something like this never happens again."

The AAP delegation was escorted by the police to Aakash Ganga guest house in Dadri.

Around 200 persons attacked the residence of Mohammed Iqlaq on Monday night after rumours spread in the village that a cow has been slaughtered and the beef was stored in his house, police said.

The mob allegedly beat Iqlaq to death while his 22-year-old son Danish was critically injured in the attack and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Six persons have been arrested in connection with the lynching of the man over suspected beef consumption and a manhunt launched to arrest the rest named accused in the case, a senior police officer said.
