A 21-year-old Hispanic man wanted in connection with shooting near the White House last Friday was arrested by the police from a hotel in Pennsylvania, the United States Secret Service said.

"On Wednesday afternoon, based on information generated by Secret Service agents from the Pittsburgh Field Office, the Pennsylvania state police troop located and arrested Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Herndandez at a hotel near Indiana, Pennsylvania," Secret Service special agent in Charge Edwin Donovan said.

Ortega-Hernandez is currently in the custody of the Pennsylvania state police, Donovan said. He is suspected to be involved in the shooting near the White House on Friday night. He was apparently last seen running from a bridge near the White House, before being arrested on Wednesday.

One AK-47 was recovered from the vehicle near the White House which is believed was abandoned by him after the fire shots, in which no one was injured.

Given the shooting in the proximity of the White House, the Secret Service opened an investigation into the incident. On Wednesday, the Secret Service recovered one of the bullets that had hit a White House window.

Damage to an exterior window was discovered at the White House, the Secret Service said. A round was stopped by ballistic glass behind the historic exterior glass. One additional round was found on the exterior of the White House.

This damage was not been conclusively connected to Friday's incident, and an assessment of the exterior of the White House is ongoing. Neither the US President Barack Obama nor First Lady Michelle Obama were at the White House at the time of the incident.
