The mayor of London, Boris Johnson, was caught in a dramatic air-rage incident - trying to calm down an abusive and violent passenger who was ‘off his head’ on an international flight from Kuala Lumpur to London.

The mayor and his entourage was travelling back from a tour in the Far East when a passenger described as ‘off his face’ became angry and violent. The London Mayor helped flight attendants try to diffuse the situation after trouble erupted at 35,000 feet.

Cabin crew is believed to have later been forced to restrain the man.

Police confirmed a 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and common assault once the Malaysia Airlines flight touched down at London's Heathrow airport.

Eileen Burbridge, who was travelling as part of the mayor’s entourage on board the flight, posted a picture of the passenger apparently being restrained by cabin crew.

She wrote on Twitter: “So impressed with MH2 cabin crew (Kuala Lumpur-LHR); amazing professionalism/handling of passenger who was off his head.”
