In yet another case of atrocity against school children, a class V student of Don Bosco School at Sagardighi in West Bengal's Murshidabad district was allegedly sexually assaulted by the hostel superintendent, the police said on Sunday.

"Father James Soren has been accused by the father of the 10-year-old boy, a boarder in the school's hostel, of calling him to his room on Wednesday night and sexually assaulting him," Additional Superintendent of police Mrinal Majumdar told PTI.

The boy phoned his father, a resident of Bakhanda village in Raghunathganj, on Thursday morning and related the incident.

The boy's father lodged a complaint on Thursday with the local police station and with the school authorities. A case under section 377 of IPC (criminal offence of sexual activity involving minors) and sections under Juvenile Justice Act was registered against Father Soren, who is absconding, Majumdar said.

"We have started an investigation into the allegations after the First Information Report was lodged," he added.

Father Yakub, a member of the school managing committee under Don Bosco Society, confirmed receiving the complaint and said the allegations were being investigated.
