Situation in the curfew-bound areas of Thakurganj and Chowk in Lucknow was normal with no reports of untoward incident from anywhere even as police personnel maintained a strict vigil in the area.
"We have decided to continue the curfew to avoid any problem and are keeping a close eye on the situation," Senior Superintendent of Police Jyoti Narayan said.
Tension prevailed in the area after clashes broke out between Shia-Sunni groups during a Milad-un-Nabi procession on April 1.
Heavy police and Rapid Action Force personnel were deployed in the entire area and only government employees and students were allowed to move out of their houses after showing their identity cards.
Security personnel were deployed on the rooftops of houses in the congested area to prevent people from resorting to brick-batting.
