UP: BJP MLA's alleged killer shot dead

An alleged criminal suspected to be involved in the murder of Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Krishnanad Rai was shot dead in an encounter with Uttar Pradesh Police in Jaunpur on Friday.

Special Task Force of UP Police gunned down Naushad Qureshi, hailing from Bihar and with a cash reward of Rs 20,000 on his head, Jaunpur Senior Superintendent of Police Abhay Prasad Kumar told reporters.

A police team led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Vijay Bhashan shot dead Qureshi near Jagdishpur railway crossing in Zafarabad police station area in an encounter, he said adding that a Chinese made pistol and a motorcycle were recovered from site of the encounter.
