New Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi on Tuesday night faced protest from family members of the passengers injured in the Kalka Mail accident and was also heckled as he visited a hospital in Fatehpur.

The minister, who reached the hospital at about 23.20 hours, was surrounded by the family members who raised slogans against the police and railway officials. They alleged non-cooperation by police and railway authorities, and also blamed police for taking away bodies without informing family members.

Sensing their mood, the minister said he regretted the tragedy and the subsequent difficulties they faced.

The minister stayed in the hospital for about 15 minutes amid chaotic scenes in which he was not only surrounded by the families, but also pushed and pulled by some of them.
