Refuting the alleged ‘rape’ of a 10-year old girl in Bulandshar, about 400 km from Lucknow, the Uttar Pradesh police have claimed that the incident had been blown out of proportion. Meanwhile, taking serious cognisance of the incident, the Supreme Court has sought a detailed report from the UP government.
However, Additional Director General of police (law and order) Arun Kumar told mediapersons on Wednesday evening, “While the rape charge has not been proved in the medical examination carried out by a panel of three doctors, there is no denying about laxity on the part of certain policemen, who did not act properly after the matter was reported to them”
According to the medical examination report, neither external nor internal injury remarks have been found on the 10-year-old girl, who was alleged to have been raped by a middle-aged farmer.
He said, “Besides an inspector and sub-inspector who were suspended on Tuesday, we have ordered suspension of the SHO of Mahila Thana (Women’s Police station) Gayashree Chauhan and sub inspector Sarita Dwivedi. While a FIR has been lodged against two other, two policemen have been sent to lines.”
According to him, “Action was ordered against the policemen because they refused to register the case when the victim’s father approached the police station with his complaint about the abduction and alleged rape of the little girl.”
Earlier reports on Tuesday said that the girl was enticed by a local goon to a secluded spot where he raped her. And when the girl went with her parents to the police station, both the victim and her mother were pushed around and slapped by the cops, who also made them spend the night in the police lock-up.
