J&K: Three ultras killed, two civilians abducted

Security forces shot dead three ultras and recovered arms and ammunition from them in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, while militants abducted two persons from Anantnag district, later strangulating one of them to death.

Eight kilograms of RDX, an Under Barrel Grenade Launcher, 12 UBGL grenades and a 12 bore guns were recovered from the militants during the operation at Katwan-Chakri in Doda district, a security forces spokesman said on Tuesday. The operation also yeilded a rocket launcher, three AK magazines with 832 rounds, 12 rounds of ammunition and a wireless set, he said.

Militants abducted two persons Abdul Majid Khan and Shabir Ahmad Reshi alias Tober from their houses at Lamad-Bernai in Qazigund area of Anantnag district Monday night, the spokesman said.

While the former was strangulated to death by the abductors, the whereabouts of the latter are being ascertained, he said. In another operation, security forces busted a militant hideout at Pir Behra in Rajouri district and recovered 189 rounds, 109 pika rounds and five hand grenades, he said.
