A United Liberation Front of Assam militant was killed and eight civilians injured in two separate bomb explosions in Assam on Thursday.
The explosion took place even as Intelligence reports indicated the militant group's plans to carry out subversion in the state in the run up to its 'Army Day' on Friday.
An ULFA militant was killed at Sonari in Sivasagar district of the state on Thursday morning when the bomb he was carrying exploded accidently.
Four other civilian passers by were injured in the blast that occurred about 800 metre away from Sonari police station. The ULFA militant was carrying the bomb in the pocket of his jacket.
At least four persons were injured in another bomb explosion that occurred at Moranhat in Dibrugarh district later in the evening.
The banned ULFA observes March 16 as its 'Army Day,' as the armed wing of the outfit -- Sanjukta Mukti Fouj Assam -- was formed on March 16, 1986.
