Maninder Pal Singh Kohli, prime accused in the murder of British teenager Hannah Foster, on Wednesday pleaded before a Delhi court not to extradite him to the United Kingdom.
He alleged that he could become a victim of 'racial bias' in the UK.
"Investigation in the case will be conducted by the Scotland Yard if Kohli is extradited to Britain. They are a force which has a racial bias," Kohli's counsel C S Bakshi contended before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ravinder Dudeja.
Bakshi presented before the court clippings of a London-based daily, which he claimed was an article where the Scotland Yard police 'admitted' to racial bias.
Kohli had earlier accused the British investigation officials of keeping his wife Shailender Kaur, a UK citizen, hostage at an unknown place.
Claiming that she was a crucial defence witness, he has moved the United Nations Human Rights Commission and European Court on Human Rights urging assistance to know her whereabouts.
Kohli was brought to New Delhi on September 10 from Chandigarh where he was lodged after his arrest on July 15 from Kalimpong in connection with the murder.
In 2004, Kohli had admitted on national television that he was responsible for the rape and murder of 17-year-old Hannah Foster. Hannah's body was found abandoned two days after she went missing in 2003.
