The British police on Tuesday arrested another journalist under an operation related to the phone-hacking controversy at the now defunct 'News of the World'.

The arrest came a day after investigators took into custody a reporter, named in media reports as Nick Parker, chief foreign correspondent of 'The Sun'.

He got bail later on Monday evening.

The arrest was carried out by officers from Operation Tuleta, the investigation into criminal breaches of privacy which is being carried out in conjunction with phone-hacking inquiries.

The journalist held was not named by the police, as per normal procedure, but he was described as a 37-year-old man, who was arrested after attending an east London police station "on suspicion of handling of stolen goods".

"The arrest relates to a suspected conspiracy involving the gathering of data from stolen mobile phones and is not about seeking journalists to reveal confidential sources in relation to information that has been obtained legitimately," the Scotland Yard said in a statement.
