12 students, pregnant woman injured as 11,000 kw wire falls on bus

Twelve students and a pregnant woman were injured on Thursday when the bus they were boarding came in contact with a 11,000 kw high tension wire at Bhagwanpura village in Dholpur district, police said.

"In the incident, two students were seriously injured and were rushed to a hospital in Agra, while nine and the woman were admitted to a government hospital in Baseri town," Dholpur SP, Rajesh Singh said.

"One child was given first aid and sent to home," he said.

"The incident occurred when the private bus was collecting students from their stops on Bhagwanpura and Kallupura road when the high tension wire (11000 kw) fell on it," the SP said.

"Some students were in the the vehicle and some were entering it when the incident occurred. Tyres of the bus got fire, while body was damaged in the fire," the official said.

The pregnant woman came with a child to drop him at the bus stop when she also came in contact with electric current, the officer said, adding, the driver also received minor bruises.
