Rail traffic on the Konkan railway route was severely affected on Wednesday as several trains were halted at various stations after a landslide near Ratnagiri, officials said.

The landslide occurred late on Tuesday night.

Konkan Railway Corporation's public relations manager Baban Ghatge told PTI that work to clear the landslide has begun. "We are yet to know when the train traffic would resume," he said.

Following the landslide, many trains including the Karwar CST express, Netravati Express, Matsagandha Express and others are being regulated at various railway stations.

The rail traffic on this route was off the track for almost seven days this month due to landslide.
