Two major insurgent outfits of Manipur condemned Wednesday's grenade attack at the ISKCON temple complex in the West district even as the toll from the explosion mounted to five on Friday.

In separate statements, the United National Liberation Front and People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak termed the attack on the temple as an attempt to portray the movement in the region in poor light.

The attack was an act of terrorism, which aimed to portray the 'armed movement in the region in wrong light' before the international fora, the statement said.

Stating that an enemy of the people of Manipur could be involved in the attack, the UNLF urged the public to be on the guard.

The Prepak too said that the action was nothing but an attempt to paint the revolutionary movement in wrong light.

Earlier, another insurgent outfit Revolutionary People's Front had also condemned the attack.

No individual or organisation has so far claimed responsibility for the exlposion caused by a powerful hand grenade at the temple during the celebration of Janmasthami on August 16.

Meanwhile, with the death of an injured woman, the toll in the explosion mounted to five, official sources said.

Thongam Ranjana Devi (24), who had been injured by splinters of the grenade, succumbed to her injuries in hospital early Friday morning. Condition of some of the 65 injured was reported to be critical, the sources said.
