Three women, including a Bahujan Samaj Party leader, who levelled some allegations against two ministers and staged a demonstration in front of Uttar Chief Minister Mayawati's cavalcade during her surprise visit in Aligarh, have been arrested, a senior police official said.
"Creating a hurdle during the CM's visit is not justified and breaking security cordon scuffle with security staff amounts to creating disturbance in execution of government responsibility," Special Director General of Police Brij Lal told reporters.
He said the three women -- Suman Sagar, Sunita and Chandrawati -- were arrested on a complaint filed by a woman sub-inspector Poonam. Lal said Chandrawati was arrested for blocking the chief minister's convoy.
Chandrawati's family members however told mediapersons that she had no intention to block Mayawati's path, but the idea was to draw the chief minister's attention to the alleged involvement of the UP rural engineering services minister TJ Singh behind the "unlawful" arrest of her husband.
Suman alleged that she lost the panchayat elections due to a cabinet minister and Sunita wanted to urge Mayawati to get the lethargic cops into taking expeditious action in the murder case of her father, who was found dead on the terrace of their house. She suspects the involvement of yet another cabinet minister Jaiveer Singh behind her father's murder.Since Mayawati put stopped holding the traditional janata where ordinary citizens could voice their grievances she has become completely inaccessible. Having knocked all other doors in their quest for justice , these women in Salempur did not think they were committing any crime by seeking the chief minister's attention.
