The total number of legislators from Telangana resigning for the cause of a separate state has shot up to 97 with four legislators of Communist Party of India also submitting their resignations.

The figure is likely to touch 100 by the evening, as two MLAs of the BJP and another of Congress are expected to put in their resignation as well.

Three CPI MLAs led by the flood leader G Mallesh met Deputy Speaker Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday evening and handed him over the resignation letters. Another MLA K Sambashiva Rao, who was unwell, faxed his resignation.

Talking to media persons, Mallesh said that his party was very much committed to Telangana and was ready to make any sacrifice.

"We are confident that if all the people wage a united fight, Telagnana state can be achieved".

He warned that if the central government does not accept the demand, his party will organise the siege of all the district collectorates in Telangana region.

BJP floor leader G Kishan Reddy and his colleague Lakshmi Narayana are scheduled to meet the deputy speaker later in the evening and submit their resignations.
