Three suspected Taliban militants blew themselves up after being cornered by police in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir though there were no casualties.

The police launched a search in PoK capital Muzaffarabad after it was reported that three men had dumped a bag of weapons on a road in the town.

The trio blew themselves up after police surrounded them in Sarar village on the outskirts of Muzaffarabad.

A crowd gathered near the field where the bodies were lying. Police officials said they had found two heads and a torso.

Some officials said the three men could have been militants who fled South Waziristan after the army launched an operation there against the Taliban.

Militants have carried out a wave of suicide bombings across Pakistan in recent weeks but there have been no attacks in PoK.

Two soldiers were killed in the first suicide attack in PoK in June.

There have also been reports that groups like Lashkar-e-Tayiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed are active in the region.
