A robbery occurred at a Sikh temple in Livingston city of California on Sunday. The Livingston police suspects that the robbery was done by people who knew about the temple’s wherabouts.
According to a press statement released by the North America Punjabi Association, three robbers entered the GuruNanakSikhTemple through the front door at 1:50 am. One of the robbers was armed with a gun, while another carried a knife. The third robber was unarmed. A woman was inside the temple, worshiping, when the robbers entered, and one of the men put his finger over her lips, motioning her to remain quiet.
Two other worshipers, one of whom was asleep, were also inside when the robbery happened. The three men took cash from the donation box and departed through the side door.
NAPA president Satnam Singh Chahal said that Livingston police are on the lookout for the robbers. Chahal added as per the reports police no one was hurt during the robbery.
According to media report published in Merced Sun-Star, all the men were wearing hooded jackets or sweatshirts during the robbery, concealing their identities.
Livington Police Chief Ruben Chavez said while money has been stolen from the donation box before, it's the first robbery that he knows of at the temple.
“This is more brazen because they did come in armed,” he added.
The officers are looking at different angles said will do their best to get to the bottom of the case.
