We know iPhones are the hottest phones around and people line up outside stores to get their hands on the precious gadget but this Hong Kong man takes the cake.
According to reports, the man was stopped at Futian Port in China with 94 iPhones attached to his body with cling film and sticky tape -- a technique referred to in coverage as “iPhone armour”.
Authorities said he was spotted because of his “weird walking posture, joint stiffness and muscle tension”.
The man wore the iPhones taped together across his torso, thighs, calves, and groin. He had each phone individually placed in plastic bags, then lashed together with masking tape. The 94 iPhones ranged from the 5s, 6, and 6 Plus models.
He set off a metal detector and was immediately searched, and officials made the discovery of nearly hundred phones. The phones were seized and are being held by customs.
Smuggling iPhones into mainland China is apparently a booming black market trade because they retail for higher than in Hong Kong. This makes it easy to fence stolen or smuggled phones in Asia, and can be an appealing prospect for those willing to take the risk.
