Thirty-five Indians, all on tourist visas, have been arrested in Thailand for lending money to locals at high interest rates and selling goods under an instalment scheme, according to Thai immigration police.

The debtors had to pay them interest rate of 20 per cent or more per day, they said.

All the 35 men's names will be blacklisted and will not be allowed to return to Thailand after repatriation, the police said, adding that their visas have been revoked.

Under law, a person on a tourist visa cannot work in the country.
