With nothing concrete coming out of the Cabinet meeting on Telangana, the protestors demanding statehood have now decided to take the fight to New Delhi.

The Joint Action Committee on Telangana has decided to continue its protest at the Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

The committee members and student leaders were expecting something out of the Cabinet meeting at New Delhi. However, the meeting did not make any concrete announcement.

The JAC has also planned to stage a protest before President Pratibha Patil.

Whether all parties would
take part in this protest is something that will be decided later in the day.

Meanwhile, the students continued their protest and have stuck to the July 10 deadline.

Other parties such as the Telugu Desam Party have also been staging protests in Hyderabad. The rail roko programme will commence on Friday.

The JAC says that they have to take this fight further as the Cabinet meeting only indicated that the government was planning to delay this issue further.

We did expect something concrete, but we are disappointed, said members of the Joint Action Committee for Telangana.
