Telangana Rashtra Samiti legislators created ruckus in the Andhra Pradesh assembly on Thursday as they allegedly manhandled Loksatta party MLA Jayaprakash Narayan for not supporting statehood for Telangana.

Earlier, TRS and TDP MLAs disrupted Governor ESL Narasimhan's speech on the opening day of the assembly's Budget session. They tried to tear his speech copy and climbed on the podium.

Meanwhile, over two lakh government employees of the Telangana region are boycotting work from Thursday as part of their non-cooperation movement, launched to mount pressure on the state and Central governments to carve out a new state.

Pro-Telangana parties have asked them not to cooperate with the rest of Andhra Pradesh from Thursday.

"They would go to the office, sign

in the register but they would not work. They would absolutely declare non-cooperation. They will not work for this government, which is against the interest of the people of Telangana," said TRS leader KT Rama Rao.

Several protests and shutdowns had brought the state to a near halt last year as pro-Telangana activists pressed their demand for the separate state.

A concerned central government appointed a judicial commission headed by former Supreme Court judge Justice Srikrishna in March last year to look into issue of the separate statehood after a series of huge demonstrations and suicides.

The report, submitted to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in December last year has suggested at least six options, including maintaining status quo in the state and bifurcation of the state.
