With the Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly rejecting the resignations of all members of legislative assembly from the Telangana region, the Congress MLAs are locked up in a meeting to decide on the next course of action.
While both the leaders of the region from the Telegu Desam Party and the Telangana Rastriya Samithi have decided to tender their resignations yet again, the Congress continues to remain undecided.
The leaders had initially decided to tender their resignations to Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad but they were advised that such an action would mean nothing. The other issue on hand is that the Speaker after rejecting their earlier resignations left for London leaving them with option of submitting the same to the deputy speaker.
The Congress leaders who have a meeting scheduled with their high command are still pondering on whether to first tender their resignations or to hold on until the high command takes a decision on the matter.
The high command had assured them that some action on the issue would be taken soon and that they should wait a while longer. The entire process according to sources would take at least another four months to complete.
The Congress leaders from Telangana are however under immense pressure from their voters and buckling under any pressure could prove fatal to their chances during the elections.
Sources say that the Congress will first wait for the TDP and TRS MLAs to first resign and only then announce their decision.
Meanwhile rebel TDP MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy is planning on moving the Supreme Court against the order. He contends that there is a political motive behind his decision.
