Four storey building collapses in flood-hit Surat

A four storey building in Surat, which was submerged under water, collapsed on Thursday and many people are feared trapped, an official said.

The water level in Amblipura area was around 20 feet on Wednesday due to which Rabia Manzil building's second floor was under water, Director of Relief Operations B A Satya said.

Rescue teams of the army are trying to wade through the water to reach the spot, he said.

The number of people trapped or their condition is not yet known as telecommunication network is badly disrupted, the official said.
