Home Minister P Chidambaram's political rival Janata Party Chief Dr Subramanian Swamy on Friday shot a letter to the prime minister requesting himĀ against inaugurating a hospital in linked to Chidambaram.
Swamy claimed that the hospital in Sivaganga district in Tamil Nadu, which the prime minster is to inaugurate on December 26, is built on unauthorised land, with "an indirect but definite connection of this land usurpation to Chidambaram."
Will it be proper for the prime minister to attend the function at a time when Chidambaram is "under such a cloud of corruption and misconduct in office?" asked Swamy.
Swamy reminded the PM that he had similarly indicated to him when he went to inaugurate the Setu Samudaram Project, as ultimately the government came to grief with the Supreme Court holding the project inappropriate.
