Amid mounting criticism of right wing outfits over Dadri lynching incident, Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Thursday hit back and said it has become "fashion" for "some people" to abuse Hindus or else they contract "diarrhoea".
"Several people have leveled allegations against Hindus and those working for awakening of Hindus. My view is clear, some people contract diarrhoea if they don't abuse Hindus. Their diarrhoea gets treated when they abuse Hindus. I don't object to such people. But it is fashionable for them to abuse (Hindus). There is no substance in it," VHP general secretary Champat Rai said.
Rai made the statement on the sidelines of an event where a book on senior VHP leader Ashok Singhal's life was released. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh were also present at the event.
Rai said if something against law takes place, court will decide what went wrong and who was guilty.
However, he added, abusing Hindutva outfits for it was nothing but "irresponsible behaviour on their part".
"We have always condemned such killings. What one is going to achieve through killings? And we don't teach murders, we teach love. We are Indian Hindus, we accept opposition. India or Hindu society is world's oldest ideology, for it accepts differences," he said.
Mohammad Iqlakh, 50, was allegedly beaten to death and his son, Danish, 22, left severely injured by a mob following rumours that his family consumed beef on Monday.
Referring to the incident, Samajwadi Party targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party and accused it of deliberately inciting violence ahead of 2017 assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh to polarise voters.
Pointing towards post-incident statements of BJP leaders, allegedly justifying the "heinous" crime, Communist Party of India said it prove their roles in rousing the sentiments among a section of people on beef eating in the name of cow slaughter.
The CPI-M had yesterday said the incident occurred against the backdrop of provocative statements being made by Union ministers and various BJP leaders.
