A hotel owner was shot dead by a group of youths in Bihar’s Begusarai district for refusing to serve onion and lemon with a meal, police said on Tuesday.
“A group of men shot death Ratish Pandit, a hotel owner near Barauni railway junction in Begusarai, when he refused to serve onion and lemon with dinner late on Monday night,” a district police official said.
According to local police officials, Vijay Kumar, Kunal Kumar, Chhote Lal and Dhanraj Kumar Singh arrived at Pandit’s hotel on Monday.
After they were served their meals, two of the group demanded to be served extra onion and lemon, but Pandit expressed his inability to do so.
The infuriated group threatened Pandit, but he stood his ground and refused to serve the onion and lemon, saying there was none of it available in the hotel. “In a fit of anger, the group shot at Pandit and killed him, following which they fled the spot,” said the police.
Furious locals on Tuesday began a protest in the area and demanded that the culprits be caught and justice is served.
